Going to church doesn’t usually fill me with excitement and I have to admit, after sitting in a freezing cold shop all day, I didn’t really relish sitting in a freezing cold church.
The twins didn’t want to go either, but the Headmaster had drummed into them all week that he expected everyone to support their school. This is a brand-new school which opened in September, completely modern with all mod-cons. Alex was still asking why he needed to go as he was putting his shoes on!!!
However, once we were in and sat down I can honestly say it wasn’t cold, although I kept my coat on!!! The atmosphere was great too, everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and the children all behaved themselves impeccibly.
There were a mixture of songs that the talented music teachers had written themselves, plus some readings by the children. Us parents joined in too, although, not being blessed with a great singing voice, I didn’t sing too loudly!!! And I had a lump in my throat as I watched my 2 little darlings sing their hearts out and keep looking over and waving surreptitiously.
Then Abbie came back to Organ-Nics with me whilst I quickly sent out the last newsletter before Christmas….geez I’m committed….or maybe that’s I should be committed???
